Important information about Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Since the Jeffery Hale emergency is closed, English-speaking clients who would normally have gone to the Jeff for medical care in their language are now invited to call 418-684-5333, ext. 11805, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Leave your name and phone number, and the liaison nurse from Jeffery Hale Community Services will call you back to assess your situation and refer you to a local clinic that can provide bilingual services if required. BEFORE calling this liaison service, please assure that you do NOT have access to your family doctor OR have flu-like symptoms. If you have flu-like symptoms, please call 811. For urgent care, call 911 or go to the emergency closest to you.

Alternatives to the Jeffery Hale Emergency: For urgent care, call 911 or go to the emergency closest to you.  For information about other medical services available in the Greater Québec City region, please call 811 or go to

Our Emergency room has been transformed into a pediatric Evaluation Clinic for COVID-19, reserved for children aged 3 months to 16 years.

The goal of this specialized clinic is to prevent clients who have potentially contracted the coronavirus from going to emergency rooms. Strict measures are in place to protect staff, clients and the general public against the spread of the virus.

In all cases, patients must first try to get an appointment with their family doctor or medical clinic. If they are unable to do so, people who have COVID-19 symptoms must call 418-644-4545 (toll-free 1-877-644-4545) or 811 to explore other available options.

A special note to English-speaking clients of the Jeffery Hale Emergency:  Because our emergency was well known for offering bilingual services. We have developed a trajectory to help English-speakers to access medical care. To learn more about how to obtain these services, please visit a special webpage of the Wellness Centre, our main partner from the community sector.  This page is also a good source of reliable information in English about COVID-19.

Please visit our COVID-19 page for more information on the current pandemic.
